COMMON DRIVING ISSUES

Learners suddenly lose confidence as the test approaches, especially when they have learned from an unqualified teacher

And then once the test is passed, be it last week or last century, learners become qualified drivers, but not confident drivers and definitely not experienced drivers. Over the ensuing months and years they grew in confidence and experience, and most are lucky enough to avoid accidents. But then the issues creep in - complacency, doubt in their ability and ultimately bad habits.

Drivers lose sight of current laws because they do not read/keep up with Highway Code (“Oh I’ve got one somewhere but that’s just for learners isn’t it?”)

Drivers feel safe on familiar roads (“Well I know this road, I ‘know’ what’s around the next bend”) but become less and less confident and competent on unfamiliar roads because they lose the ability to ‘read the road’.

Choosing to avoid driving altogether purely through lack of confidence

Being pushed to getting back behind the wheel because of a change in circumstances

And then straightforward avoidance of motorways, country lanes, driving at night, parallel parking…………… All through lack of confidence.
